I've always been a big fan of monochrome & grayscale and that's why most of my sketches comprise of these b/w line drawings.

This was my entry in the Threadless x McDonald's design challenge when the fast food giant introduced the all day breakfast menu.
My design approach expressed the idea - 'The Neverending Craving for Breakfast '

Of course, I didn't win and the design which won is AWESOME! but I got to learn a lot of things in the process as usual.
This was the 1st entry of mine that got accepted by Threadless, after a few rejections on design entries from other contests...so I guess, ill " just keep swimming " :)

Design walkthrough.

The locality where I was born, had this golgappa wala ( what we say 'phhuchka' here ) who was the best one I knew for a long time. I remember he used to come in the evening with his make shift table top, and all of us would run after him to the end of the street where he would start his business.
The memory is still there. so is the taste of the free ones he used to give us. Small things would have made us happy then.

Medium - brush-pen + photoshop (shall color it soon!)

This is a scene of another very popular street food - 'teleybhaja' (which translates to fried in oil ) shop which gets crowded especially during the evening when everyone wants a quick bite of the calorie galore goodness!

So my cousin needed some drawings for his school project on France.

I took some elements from the drawing and worked them up in illustrator.
He got an A, & I got a new pattern.

Very few people write a letter to each other these days. So do I.

One day I got hold of a box full of old letters and being happy as I could be to read them once again..made this snail mail pattern. ( Oh, and it's a linoleum print. )
Poster design project on the plastic plague that the globe is suffering from.

Continuous ignorance towards plastic treatment will surely outweigh and outnumber the fishes present in our oceans across the globe in a few years. Life on earth thrived because of these oceans; which we are so carelessly polluting.
Initial sketch
Edgar Allan Poe. Linoleum printmaking (12" x 18")
Here is the digitally sketched version of it..
I don't usually go this tight at this stage of digitally laying out the composition, but I was having a lot of fun and decided to go on with it! ( i think ill ink it sometime! )

Illustrations for PAPERCUP (a Kolkata based startup) that were used on coffee mugs.
The Vader one is my favorite
The movie where the Werewolf was in love. So much love...

Poster design of a love story from beyond life(time)

Boris Karloff, enough said. Dirt brown colored ink to show...well, dirt! Rendering the facial wrinkles was fun.

Poster design of a classic character design inspiration

This is another movie from which I've always drawn inspiration from ( which I'm sure a lot of other artists have done so as well ! ) in terms of character design. It may look funny if we are to compare this with monsters we see on screen today, but I think costume and makeup is a timeless medium which even CGI cannot fully outdo. (so far). Grayish green ink to show the scare that came from under the water.

Poster design of a great horror classic, Frankenstein. ( pen & ink )

Back in the day when I was in school and saw this movie for the first time, I would only watch all the blunt aspects of the movie. But as time went by and my understanding of concepts, ideas, and my thought process evolved I realized that this was not actually just another horror movie from my childhood...but was rather a sensitive realization. To show the mood and melancholy of the monster, I went with a blue ink for the artwork.
